MediaCo, the Manchester-based super-wide format producer of graphic installations, has produced and installed the Busby Babes tribute presently adorning the front of the Old Trafford stadium. Intended to honour the 50th anniversary of the tragic crash that killed 23 people as the aeroplane returned from Munich, the image depicts the Busby Babes final line up with the words of terrace favourite 'United Calypso' reflected opposite. Managing Director, Mark Wardle says: "This has been a particularly poignant project to work on, MediaCo has always been a Manchester-based company and the Busby Babes are true heroes in this city. We are very proud to be involved in producing this spectacular tribute." Commissioned by Manchester United's sponsor, AIG, the window graphic is 40m by 15m. Produced on Clearvision, a material that allows light to flood through it, making it ideal for use on glass, a job this size takes one day to produce and a further five days to install. Produced in-house at MediaCo, situated in Trafford Park only a short distance from the stadium, this project is the third of its type that the company has produced for Old Trafford in the last two years. Left undisturbed, the graphic could last for up to 12 months with no maintenance requirements. However, following the memorial tributes it will be removed. This involves a similar process to installation, the material being lifted off by hand and the glass cleaned to remove any residue.
